    April 27, 2016, Prescott-

One of my students wrote a mini-movie script, this morning.

The depth of his thoughts spewed forth, without warning.

As with many of his generation, the focus was on geologic change.

Earthquakes, of late, have seemed to increase in range.

He wrote of the Big One, and how it would affect Hoover Dam,

sending cascading water, down the Colorado, and into the Bill Williams.

Our town would bear a bit of overflow, perhaps,

but his first thought was that his sanity might snap.

His rescuers appeared, though, in the personages of all the girls,

who, his adolescent mind has determined, rock his world.

Change is timeless, and so is sameness.

  • That sounds so much like my grandson. He worries about all those natural disasters and what might happen. We watched a documentary once and we saw a person walk right into a sinkhole that opened in front of them. Glad for good times. We can't let those scary things spoil our lives.

    • One could indeed be hurt, "just crossing the street" or by a car driving into the house. Life is made to be lived.

  • My son went through a "What if" phase where he asked what if.. aliens abducted me, what if the oceans swallowed the land, what if the air was all used up? He outgrew it thankfully...

  • @murisopsis: Definitely thankful, when a child figures those things out. :)
